Girls Take Flight Aviation and Aerospace Expo

This event is generally held each spring, and the 2023 event was a huge success, with over 1,300 people attending. The event was possible due to the effort of 100 volunteers and 250 exhibit staff.

Unfortunately, rain prevented us providing any discovery flights.

Introductory Flight Lesson

If you are interested in finding out more about learning to fly, the Durham Flight Centre offers "Intro Flights". You take your first flight lesson and see first hand what it is like to learn to fly an airplane, for as little as $77+tx. Gift Certificates are available. Click here for details, and scroll down.

Sightseeing Flights

Would you like to see interesting scenery from the air? Durham Flight Centre offers sightseeing flights anywhere you would like to go, and back to the airport at Oshawa. Up to three people (within weight limits) can fly together in a Cessna 172. Click here for details

Discovery Flights - Registration Required

Take a FREE Discovery Flight in a general aviation aircraft:

  • For girls and women, aged 8 and older
  • Only for those who have never, ever flown in a small aircraft before
  • Signed liability waiver is required
  • Must register on-line in advance to fly

Your Hosts

Girls Take Flight Oshawa is an event hosted by the First Canadian Chapter of the Ninety-Nines and Durham Flight Centre to introduce girls and women to aviation.

Volunteers

This event is run entirely by volunteers.

Pilots donate their fuel and aircraft for girls and women who have never been for a flight in a small aircraft.

Parking

You are welcome to park across the street at the DeStefano Funeral Home.

There is also parking along Keith Ross Drive.

There is also a large parking lot at the Main Terminal on Airport Blvd and you can park on the grass there.
